- Water is your 2nd best friend (to ana of course) You need to drink at least 8 cups a day, if you want to lose drink 10-14 cups everyday. Always drink at least 1 cup befoe a meal. Water helps you lose weight like crazy. Choose your favourite drink bottle and take it everywhere with you. Take a large sip from it every time you notice it.
- Ice. If you want to chew on something, ice is a great substitute to food! Obviously, 0 calories and is a great distraction from eating. Also, because its so cold it may help you burn a few extra calories. Remember, every calorie counts.
- Set rules for yourself! Anything like don't eat anything blue, don't eat after 6pm or before noon, chew 32 times for every mouthful and never eat anything with over 4 grams of fat. Make your own to suit your lifestyle and keep adding to them. If you really want to lose weight, you'll have no problem sticking to them.
- Never eat while you're distracted(watching t.v etc). You will eat more and be less satisfied.
- Only eat in front of people to prove you do eat and to stop them from raising suspicion. Don't waste your calories for when you're by yourself. Remember, eat to live don't live to eat.
- Never eat anything bigger than about a cup/the size of your fist. Otherwise your stomach will expand and you will feel hungry more often. If you must, eat more frequently, not bigger amounts. Four 100 calorie meals is better than one 400 calorie meal.
- Energy bars are just glorified cookies. Stay away! Instead, before a workout have a banana or other fruit.
- Use small, dark coloured plates. They cause you to take smaller portions without noticing therefore you will eat more and mentally feel more satisfied.
- Make a list of bad foods for example, lollies, chips, pizza etc. Periodically cross them off and swear never to consume them again.
- Consider becoming a vegetarian or vegan. A vegetarian diet has been proven to be significantly healthier than that of a non-vegetarian. And it cuts out a whole food group you don't have to eat at the dinner table. You can also offer to make your own healthy low-calorie vegetarian dinners so you dont have to eat as much as the rest of your family if you're still living at home.
- Eat a lot of fiber and raw foods. Stay away from things high in saturated fats, artificial flavours and colourings. Eat for the body you want, not the body you have.
- Create a routine for every time you eat. Mine is: cut into pieces the size of your fingernail, chew 32 times "1... 2... 3...", put your utensils/food down. finish chewing, sip your water, repeat.
- Start a food diary. Record everything you eat and it's calories. If you don't know its calories do not eat it. Weigh everything you can and be as accurate as possible.
