A mono diet is where you only eat one specific food and water for an extended period of time. Mono diets have been proven to work by hundreds of people of all BMI's, however naturally people of higher BMI's drop weight faster than people of lower BMI's.
When our bodies get nutrients from a single food it tends not to digest the food properly therefore the calories and nutrients are not absorbed efficiently because of the lack of enzymes in our stomach. The purpose of mono dieting is to cause this effect on our body.
There is no calorie counting on a mono diet. Mono diets can be done using a healthy food like apples or a calorie-dense, unhealthy food like peanut butter. It just has to be a single type of food (not pasta, lasagna or anything else containing lots of ingredients) and water. A mono diet is usually done for 1-3 days but no longer than 7 to ensure there is no plateau or that the diet becomes ineffective.
Mono diets ideally should not be done directly after fasts and are often used to remove cravings to prevent a binge or to eat stress-free for a day(not have to worry about calories). Mono diets are an unhealthy, fast and easy way to lose weight in a short amount of time. Also other people often stop being so worried if they see you choosing to eat a large amount of fattening food.
